A Deep and Lasting Partnership with the Foxcroft School
Foxcroft girls “think pink” all year, actively helping to spread breast cancer awareness and raising money to support the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation (CBBCF) in a number of ways. Foxcroft’s support has been so significant and consistent that the CBBCF Board of Directors has established two permanent seats on the Board for Foxcroft students, a rare opportunity for high school students.
Each fall, Foxcroft students are a large and enthusiastic presence at Nanette’s Walk (aka the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Walk, Run and Pooch Prance), which is hosted on campus. In January, Foxcroft conducts the Think Pink Basketball Tournament for high school, junior varsity and middle school girls teams. The donations from both events and other fundraising activities throughout the year benefit the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation. Over the past nine years, Foxcroft has raised more than $50,000 for the organization.
Fun and Fundraising at Think Pink Tournament
Teamwork was on display in more ways than one on Saturday when the ninth annual Think Pink Basketball Tournament filled the Athletic/Student Center with athletes and fans. Foxcroft’s varsity squad was thisclose to winning their division, narrowly losing to rival Madeira in an exciting OT game. Outside of the games, student members of the Athletic Association; a corps of volunteer referees, timers, and scorekeepers; a spirited student body; and spectators cheering from the sidelines combined to create a terrific day. While the final results are still being tallied, Think Pink has already raised over $1,000 for the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation!
The next Think Pink Basketball Tournament is schedule for Saturday, Jan. 12.
Foxcroft has participated in the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation Walk since it started and has been hosting the walk since 2013. The school focuses their activities on getting students, parents and board alumnae to participate and help raise funds. The school uses their energy and social media channels to help amplify Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation’s activities.
