Foxcroft School's 'Think Pink' Basketball Tournament Scheduled for January 9
This coming Saturday, January 9, basketballs will be bouncing for a great cause when Foxcroft Schooll hosts the seventh annual Think Pink Basketball Tournament to benefit the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation (CBBCF).
With 11 girls' teams competing on three levels - varsity, JV and middle school - the scene will be a veritable three-ring circus of hoops action. The tournament, which is free and open to the public, begins at 9 am. Three games will be played at once in Foxcroft's spacious Athletic/Student Center.
Middleburg Academy, a local rival that is new to the tournament, will join Randolph-Macon Academy, St. James (MD) School and Foxcroft in the varsity competition. The JV division also has a newcomer, St. John Paul the Great, located in Dumfries, VA. JP the Great will play a round-robin with St. James and Foxcroft. This year's Middle School Division features Loudoun County Day School, Randolph-Macon academy, Quantico middle School and the Front Royal Flames, a home school sports team from Warren County. All teams will play shortened games in a round-robin format.
Foxcroft's Athletic Association will operate the food concession, which will include breakfast and lunch offerings, along with a variety of snacks and beverages. In addition, shirt sales, free-will donations and sponsorships by local families and buisnesses will benefit the CBBCF. Foxcroft students have raised more than $50,000 for the local foundation over the past eight years through this tournament and other fundraising events.
